Alongside the Mines-Télécom entrance exam, IMT Lille Douai recruits EIIM engineering students (Élèves-Ingénieurs de l’Industrie et des Mines). These students are civil servants working for the Ministry of Industry.
To be admitted onto the engineering study program, EIIM students take the TPE/EIVP common entrance exam organised by the French Ministry for Equipment for five graduate schools of engineering, including IMT Lille Douai. This entrance exam is for students from the second year of MP, PC and PES preparatory classes (or who have equivalent education).
The ranking of the TPE/EIVP entrance exams in each of the subjects is based on all the written exams in the Mines-Ponts common entrance exam and, for eligible candidates, on oral exams organised in Paris by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy.
The EIIM students are paid throughout their 3 years of study at IMT Lille Douai and at the end of their course, they join the Corps of Industry and Mines Engineers (Ingénieurs de l’Industrie et des Mines – IIM). They undertake to work for the State for at least eight years, generally within DREAL and DIRECCTE regional offices, ministries, the ASN (Nuclear Safety Authority), etc.
Registering for the TPE entrance exam is compatible with applying to Mines Douai via the Mines-Télécom entrance exam, with separate student status.
Registration and type of exams
Registration takes place on the SCEI-Concours website from December to January.
Registration requirements and procedures can be found in the TPE/EIVP entrance exam leaflet.
The written exams are those of the Mines-Ponts entrance exam in each of the three courses of study and take place in April or May. All of the exams are taken into account for drawing up the list of eligible candidates.
Oral exams are organised in June or July in the Paris region for eligible candidates. The exact nature of these exams is specified in the entrance exam leaflet.
