Specialised Master’s degrees

IMT Lille Douai offers scientific Master’s degree graduates an additional one-year course to specialise in a specific field. These specialist Master’s degree programmes are accredited by the French Institute of Graduate Schools and qualify students to work as Technical Directors, or Project Managers in their chosen area of expertise.

IMT Lille Douai offers 5 specialist postgraduate Master’s degree courses in subject areas that are key to digital, energy and industrial transition processes.

Cybersecurity Engineering

The specialist Master’s degree in « Cybersecurity Engineering » is SecNumdu-certified by the ANSSI (French National Agency for Information System Security) and is also accredited by the French Institute of Graduate Schools.

Learning goals

To enable students to acquire the methodological, theoretical and technical knowledge required to manage the introduction of corporate information security systems, to identify risks and to develop security plans to protect vital corporate resources from all types of internal and external interference.

Study programme

The study programme is split into:

  • Three credit units (UV) for each supplementary aspect of cybersecurity, in addition to a 500-hour scientific and technological project (from September to February).
  • A 5-month professional dissertation to be completed in the workplace.

Content of the three course units and scientific and technological project:

UV TOP (Theory & Practice of Information Security) – Period: September-October – Total duration: 127 hours (10 ECTS)

  • Legal and statutory cybersecurity requirements
  • Networks in a nutshell – models, architecture and protocols
  • Cryptography – basics and applications
  • Biometric authentification – systems and uses
  • Trust and reputation management (in English)
  • Organisational audits – basics, risk analysis and the ISO 2700x benchmark standards
  • « Risk analysis » project

CU SRS (System and Network Security) – Period: November-December – Total duration: 129 hours (10 ECTS)

  • Recent cyber attacks and cyber defence systems
  • Hacking and technical audits
  • Network security (I)
  • Intrusion detection systems, or IDS (in English)
  • Digital forensics
  • Controlled access models and Kerberos authentification protocol
  • Image processing and biometric pattern recognition
  • WiFi network security
  • CNSA Stormshield certification

UV CIS (Cybersecurity of Industrial Systems and Services) – Period: January, duration: 136 hours (15 ECTS)

  • Industrial control systems (ICS) security
  • Business continuity planning and risk management
  • Security management and SIMEs (Security Information Event Management)
  • Dependability: cybersecurity, a new challenge?
  • Advanced network security (II) – Security of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network
  • Virtualisation Functions (NFV)

Scientific and technological project – Period: November-December – Duration: 130 working hours in groups of two (10 ECTS)

Several cybersecurity companies support and provide input to the course through lectures from their experts, providing platforms, as well as proposing and supervising projects, etc.

Job prospects

The specialist Master’s degree in « Engineering and Cybersecurity » prepares students to work in cybersecurity occupations in a fast-expanding sector. These job descriptions were recently defined by the ANSSI (the French National Agency for Information System Security):

Application requirements

Applicants must hold:

  • A postgraduate engineering degree authorised by the CTI (Master’s degree level)
  • 2-year university Master’s degree (French M2 level)
  • 1-year university Master’s degrees (French M1 level), or a Master’s degree plus three years professional experience
  • Equivalent international degrees (5 years higher education studies)
  • Requirements: knowledge of computing and networks
